Cashew Shells
Raw cashew shells, extracted oil residue and testa husk — by-product opportunities planned after our processing expansion.
Cashew Shells
In Ghana, the cashew shell is becoming a valuable raw material, because cashew nutshell oil is an important industrial input. The shell contains around 25% of a reddish-brown oil known industrially as CNSL, a by-product of the roasting process.

- Raw shells, residue (CNSR), testa husk
- Oil content
- ~25% CNSL

Three types of cashew shells
Raw Cashew Shells
The raw hard shell before oil extraction — primary raw material for shell-oil products.
Cashew Shell Residue (CNSR)
The remains after oil extraction — a high-calorific-value boiler fuel.
Cashew Testa / Husk
The thin skin covering the kernel — for animal feed or low-pollution biofuel.
What cashew shells are used for
- Cashew Nut Shell (CNS): biomass fuel for clean power generation.
- CNSL: paints, laminating resins and chemical intermediates.
- Shell Residue (CNSR): high-heating-value boiler fuel.
- Testa / Husk: animal feed or low-pollution biofuel.
